Overview

Built a solid record of design excellence established through hands on experience with a major planning, architectural, and design contract with Federal Express and through other commercial and residential experiences gained through Formus, Inc., internships, entrepreneurial ventures, and fine arts study in interior design.  Interior Design career follows 20-years as a military officer.

Most distinguished project: Completed a junior-level design project involving renovation of a museum space to accommodate an environment and cultural display of African masks; project juried by Memphis ASID Chapter 1996. 

Received Best Interior Design Award & People's Choice Award for interior design and decoration of $500,000 residential project in Aintree Farms constructed for a local Vesta Home Show competition; event was sponsored by the Homebuilders's Association of Memphis 1991.

FORMUS, INC. ARCHITECTS & PLANNERS, Memphis, TN 1998-2000

Formus is a long-term contract service provider to Federal Express in providing comprehensive architectural and interior design services. (Formus manages many  commercial and industrial projects annually involving new offices and remodeling). Work on-site at Federal Express (95%) with brief periods on-site at Formus Office for special projects. 

Interior Design Internship (two-year internship program, full-time employee)

•Provide architectural programming services in updating, revising and organizing for complete sets of construction documents using AutoCad (R 14) for FedEx office and warehouse buildings. 

•Prepare drawings which serve as guidelines for outside architectural firms designing FedEx projects.

•In addition to FedEx assignment have prepared specifications of FF&E on interior design projects to include:

-Enterprise Bank, Memphis, TN

•Innovated a quick reference system to expedite process for updating standard building drawings:

-Result: Able to keep project managers current on all design changes.

Formus Assignments

•Consultant to Staff Architects regarding selection of furniture, fixtures and equipment and decision making on all matters relating to aesthetic effect for interior on the following projects:

-Private residence addition of sunroom and office; and remodeling of existing kitchen.

•Joined the U.S. Navy as an Officer in 1970 following completion of Nursing School and Officer Candidacy program; established a 20-year record of leadership excellence in clinical and administration areas in nursing; retired from military service in 1990.
